The new idea...

So now that the mom is back from Afghanistan after 3 years, she and I are (Finally!) upgrading from my one bedroom to something slightly larger... 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom(!) in September and we were discussing things we'd like to do with the new space. And of course my love of all things interior design spurred me onto this random project... and then from there to my new idea for this blog.

My inspiration was based on two sort of random things:
First was the collage style of inspiration/ideas from Living In and Under $100 on the Design*Sponge blog.
The second was using three words to define a Style Statement, an idea from this book that I bought the mom for Christmas last year.

So in my usual over-exuberance I made an entire PowerPoint presentation for the mom about some new ideas for our apartment. Hopefully we can grow up out of my mishmash of college furniture and IKEA everything into something more sleek, sophisticated and comfortable. (see what I did there?)

So without further ado. The look for our new apartment. And then maybe in following posts, more fun collages on a variety of subjects. I was thinking to do some recurring themes: travel destination inspired, pop-culture/zeitgeist inspired, crayon box/color inspirations, and maybe other imagined rooms/apartments.

Enjoy.

  1. I LOVE your choices! The ladder shelving is so unique, I love it!

I'm not sure you would want to build any furniture, but I'm really into it and I found an awesome blog that shows you how to make cool things for super cheap!

Even if you're not into the whole building thing, it's still kind of neat to look at: http://www.knock-offwood.com/

I want to see photos when you're new space is all set up!

  2. Pretty! Also, your room descriptions sound like old cigarette ads.

  3. Thanks guys! I promise to upload pictures of the new place... might be awhile though until it looks super amazing. =)

That's a great site Gibbon, I'm totally going to make something from there!

Kristen, that's totally what I was going for... cigarette chic. lol. I also really like my cigarettes in sea colored tones.

And an email is on the way to you.
